What the server records

Every request to this site and to the calendar feeds writes one line to a log file. That line holds the method and path requested, the status code and size of the response, how long it took, and the browser or calendar app's user-agent string. That is the complete list.

One thing is added to that line when it is present. Pressing Subscribe puts eight random characters on the end of the calendar address — ?t=a1b2c3d4 — and they are logged with each request your calendar app makes. It is a label on the subscription, not on you: it says a feed was subscribed to and roughly how long the subscription lasted, and it is attached to no name, address or account, because there are none here. It exists because a calendar address can never be changed once it is in your calendar, so it had to be there from the first day or never.

Those characters are also written down when they are generated, so that we can count how many subscriptions there are. Two dates are kept next to them: when that calendar address was first fetched, and when it was last fetched. Nothing else about the request goes there — not where it came from, and not what your calendar app calls itself. They exist because a subscription somebody kept and a button a crawler pressed once look identical otherwise, and the request log cannot tell them apart for long, since it is deleted as it ages.

The address works exactly the same without it. Delete those characters from the address in your calendar app and the fixtures keep arriving; the server serves the identical document either way, and the two dates simply stop moving.

The application does not record IP addresses. The hosting provider may keep its own connection logs, as any host does; those are outside this site's control.

Logs exist to answer two questions: is the site broken, and is anybody using it. They are not read for any other purpose.

What your calendar app tells us

A subscribed calendar works by re-fetching an address on a schedule. So once you subscribe, your calendar app — or Google's and Microsoft's servers acting on its behalf — will request that feed regularly, and those requests land in the log described above like any other.

The feed itself contains nothing about you. It is the same public document for everyone subscribed to that team and it holds only fixtures. Nothing travels back from your calendar to this site: anything you add, edit or delete on your side stays there and is invisible here.

Other parties

Fixture data is fetched on a schedule by the server, never by your browser, so your visit is not passed on to anyone. Team crests are served from this site. Pages load no fonts, scripts or images from other domains — opening the site contacts this site and nothing else.

Your rights

Since no personal data is collected, there is nothing to request a copy of, correct or delete — the subscription label above is attached to no person and identifies nobody. To stop the requests entirely, delete the subscribed calendar in your calendar app.
